We offer the following classes:
- Tumble Tots (Recommended Age to Start - 16 months to 3 years)
Children younger than 16 months who are walking can participate at parent’s discretion.Tumble Tots is a young child’s introduction to movement with an emphasis on gymnastics skills. Basic gymnastics skills are learned and mastered on all of the major apparatus. Each child must be accompanied by an adult (exceptions can be made for twins, although a one-on-one ratio is recommended). Parents and guardians are instructed in general safety as well as proper spotting techniques. Circuit-type training on gymnastics obstacle courses encourages sequencing and coordination. Movement drills develop listening skills while working gross motor skills. Trampoline, foam pit exploration, and other games and activities provide variety to the structure of this athletic class for our youngest gymnasts.
- All By Myself (Recommended Age Group - 3 up to 4 years)
Children with Sunrays experience can begin younger with teacher’s recommendation. This is a child’s first class alone in gymnastics. The skill level of this one-hour class is basic and the emphasis is on direction following, listening skills, and cooperation. If your child is between the ages of 3 and 4, and has never done gymnastics before, this is the class for you (Tumble Tots graduates may enter the class at 2 ½ years of age, with a teacher’s recommendation). Children in the All By Myself class will learn forward and backward rolls, bar skills such as supports and pullovers, and basic trampoline jumps. They will also be introduced to cartwheels and handstands, in addition to many balance, strength and motor skill exercises.
- Big Shots (Recommended Age Group - 4 up to 5 years)
Children with Sunrays experience can begin at 3½ with teacher’s recommendation.Big Shots is our mid-level gymnastics class for preschool-aged children. Basics are repeated and skills are built upon in a sequential learning process. Handstands and cartwheels are worked weekly, and there is an emphasis on personal success and accomplishment. A knowledge of gymnastics terminology is achieved, and the ability to work efficiently and respectfully in a group is encouraged. In Big Shots, there is a definite increase in the amount of form and technique that is required of the children, while maintaining a fast-paced, fun-filled atmosphere.

- Champions (Recommended Age Group - 5 to 6 years)
Children with Sunrays Experience can begin at 4 ½ with teacher’s recommendation. In the Champions level, children are challenged to learn, perfect, and perform the core moves that are vital to gymnastics success. Skills such as handstands, cartwheels, and pullovers are worked repetitively with an emphasis on technique, form, style, and consistency. Additional strength and flexibility training is incorporated into the class format. This class works well for children who have completed the previous levels, as well as children 5 to 6 years old who have no gymnastics experience. Of course, trampoline and foam block pit activities provide a breather in this workout that challenges a child’s mind and body to perform optimally in the sport of gymnastics.
- Dynamites (Recommended Age Group - 4½ to 6½ years)
This class is for experienced gymnasts. A teacher’s recommendation must be attained prior to enrollment.Dynamite is a one-hour class for children who have achieved a high-level of competency in all of the basic skills on various apparatus. Expectations for children in the group are set high. Challenging, but attainable, goals are set and worked towards. There is an emphasis on independent skill demonstration and a heightened level of listening and attention is encouraged. Children are invited into this level, although evaluations are available to give parents a clear appraisal of which level class their child is best suited for. Because of the skill level of this class, it is necessary for children to be physically and mentally prepared and eager to participate in the sport. Fun is still (and always) a factor in this class (although, typically in this class, a child’s own desire to participate in gymnastics is the only motivation needed). Children entering this class should be able to perform a competent handstand, cartwheel, pullover, and bridge without assistance. They should also show a natural ability for strength work such as rope climb and push ups, as well as flexibility throughout their body.
- KinderStars (Recommended Age Group - 4 to 6½ years)
This class is for experienced gymnasts. A teacher’s recommendation is required prior to enrollment in this class.Kinderstars is the highest-level class in the kindergym program, and is a great stepping stone for our most talented preschoolers. Entry to the class is limited, and an evaluation must take place either during a child’s regular class or on an individual basis. Kinderstars is an hour-and-a-half class, which allows for more detailed work to take place. It also provides extra time for strength and flexibility training. Circuits, trampoline and pit are still used, but the emphasis is on technique, and the gymnasts are constantly evaluated and critiqued on their ability to perform skills consistently and correctly. This is not a beginner class. Children will be working on full-sized apparatus throughout the gym, so a basic working knowledge of gymnastics is required.
