The chalk has settled, the scores are in, and the amplifiers are finally cooling off! The Arizona Sunrays just finished the most exciting event of the season: the 2026 Classic Rock Invitational. This year was more than a competition; it was a full-on celebration of talent, precision, and pure rock 'n' roll.
As our biggest gymnastics meet yet, we welcomed over 3,200 athletes from across the country and around the nation to the Phoenix Convention Center. If you missed the action, here’s everything that made this weekend a total hit.
The Classic Rock Invitational is known for its unique vibe, but this year we raised the bar. It’s not every day you see a backflip while Elvis Presley cheers from the sidelines! "The King" was with us all weekend, posing for photos and keeping the energy up.
The star power didn’t end there. The legendary Tina Turner made a special appearance, showing that our gymnasts really are "Simply the Best." These icons added fun and showmanship, reminding everyone why this is the most entertaining gymnastics meet in the USA.
While the gymnasts showed grace and power on the mats, a live rock band set the rhythm for the event. There’s nothing like sticking a landing to the sound of electric guitar and pounding drums. This mix of top-level athletics and live music made the athletes feel like performers, not just competitors.
In most gymnastics meets, you walk away with a medal or a trophy. At Classic Rock, we do things differently. To honor the "Rockstar" effort of the top-performing teams, real electric guitars were awarded to the first-place teams in each session! Seeing a team of gymnasts hoist a gleaming guitar in the air is a sight you won’t find anywhere else in the sport.
Beyond the music and celebrity guests, this event is a top choice for Women’s Gymnastics (Levels 2-10 and Xcel). Coaches and families keep coming back because of:
The Classic Rock Invitational is a huge, rock-and-roll-themed gymnastics meet held every year by the Arizona Sunrays. It brings together competitors from all over the world and mixes top-level gymnastics with live entertainment.
Instead of regular trophies, the first-place teams in each session get a real electric guitar. It’s become one of the most sought-after awards in gymnastics!
The meet is open to female gymnasts from Levels 2 through 10, plus all Xcel divisions, Adult Gymnastics sessions and HUGS Athletes.
